The Teachers' Retirement System of Illinois provides retirement benefits for teachers who are employed by all Illinois public common and charter school districts located outside the city of Chicago. The Illinois Pension Code contains the laws relating to our creation, benefits, and administration.

Position Overview

TRS is seeking highly motivated, self-starting, candidates interested in a part-time, paid internship. The internship is open to college students or recent college graduates who are pursuing a degree in business, accounting, communications, or related field. Interns within the program will have the opportunity to work on the implementation of TRS’s new employer reporting system. This position supports 991 active reporting TRS employers during the ongoing transition to pay period reporting in Gemini. As well as supporting the Gemini project, this position would also aid the Employer Services Auditors in their regular responsibilities. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and respond to calls from employers (school districts)
  • Help employers navigate the Gemini system’s functions and modules
  • Complete outreach to Employers to encourage compliance with new reporting requirements
  • Help track Employers who formally adopt the TRS Supplemental Savings Plan (SSP)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college program for business, accounting, communications, or related field.

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Basic working knowledge of Excel
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to write professional emails
