TRIP is the primary medical and prescription drug program for retirees who are not yet eligible for Medicare. TRAIL is the Medicare Advantage program for retirees who are Medicare eligible. Both now include dental and vision. We'll discuss both programs as well as when retirees transition from TRIP to TRAIL, how to enroll, and re-enrollment.
Many districts welcome educators from other countries to help educate our children. For those teaching in Illinois on a J1 Visa, it is likely they will not teach in Illinois long enough to earn a pension. The contributions that were made to TRS can be refunded to the educator.
